This is a set of 10 number expanders. As the name suggests, these number lines expand to show names of the thousands, hundreds, tens and ones, but can also be folded to only show the numerals. The expanders can also be partially folded to only reveal a part of the name. It is a great resource to let students understand the concept of place value. The ability to flexibly rename numbers is essential for children to solve addition and subtraction problems. These Number Expanders show the different ways whole numbers from 0 to 9999 can be named. Embedded magnets assist the folding function and the write-on wipe-off surface allows children to investigate various number combinations using dry erase markers. The names (thousands, hundreds, tens and ones) are permanently printed on the number expanders. The numerals section is write & wipe material, making it possible to create any number from 0 to 9999. The colours of the names also correspond with other Place Value resources, like the base ten sets. This makes it possible to teach the concept of place value in different visual concepts. Each set contains 10 number expanders (each measuring 36 x 5.5 cm).
